The Department VFW Idol Contest was held yesterday (Saturday night) in Ocala at VFW Post 4209.  Just to let you all
know that District 12 had a 'clean-sweep'.  There was a total of 10 contestants performing.  After the first round of
songs 5 contestants were eliminated.  After the second round 3 contestants were eliminated leaving just District 9 and
District 12 in the final competition.

Congratulations go out to the 8108 Brothers for winning 1st Place.  It was a very, very exciting evening and I wish
everyone could have been there.  The contestants were absolutely wonderful.  A little over $6,500.00 was raised
Saturday night.

THANK YOU' to Ladies Auxiliary 6287 and to 8108 for following through on this very special Cancer Aid & Research
Project.  The support received by all of the auxiliaries at the last District Meeting through your donations was
absolutely wonderful.

On one final note....the Department Officers got up and sang New York New York.  They passed the 'hat' around after
they sang and collected a little over $200 towards Cancer Aid & Research.  On the other hand, Dave Harris got up
and sang.  Now I don't know how many of you have actually heard Dave Harris sing but he did pass his 'hat' around
and the donations came rolling in......he collected $70.56 to NEVER sing Karaoke again.

The 8108 Brothers received a trophy and a check for $200 which they immediately donated back towards Cancer Aid
& Research.

A wonderful time was had by all and again, as your District 12 President, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for
all that each of you has done towards Cancer Aid & Research.
