"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the
whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell." James 3:6 - KJV Bible.
The Apostle James is speaking to the Early Church; and he was dealing with back biting, gossip, and
members tearing one another down with words. James goes on to say: "Out of the same mouth
proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth
at the same place sweet water and bitter?" James 3:10-11 - KJV Bible. The Apostle was having to deal
with jealousy, strife, anger, envying, and lies that was tearing down the very fiber of Christ's Early
Churches. Words can indeed either be a deadly weapon or tools to build love.

Veterans Posts are not exempt from members and guests talking about one another. These words can
actually tear down another's character and reputation. It takes many years to build a person's reputation.
Yet, that reputation can be assaulted and torn down with words. All the wars of this world have begun with
words. Man's devices of war tools, such as bombs and guns, are only means of destroying a person's
body. Words can destroy a person's desire, motivation, ambitions, volunteering, closeness to others,
loyalty, etc. On the other hand, words can build, strengthen, support, help, encourage, honor, compliment,
and many other wonderful virtues. Every time we open our mouths to speak, we have that choice as to
how we will formulate those words: to strengthen or to destroy.

Whether it be churches, clubs, or veterans organizations, we all must work with one another. Peace is
something that has to be created. Peace is necessary for the growth of any organization. Things are not
perfect in any man made organization on earth. However, all organizations can thrive where there is
mutual respect for one another. Love is a fantastic weapon against hurtful words. Love is contagious,
easy to hold, easy to give, and best shown by using good words toward one another. The Apostle James
goes on to say: "And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." James 3:18 -
KJV Bible. May God grant us peace, joy, and love. Amen.
