                                                                    LAVFW Presidents Message

Hi Everyone,

I would like to Thank everyone for the Sympathy Cards and thoughtfulness that was shown to John and myself in the
death of John's Mother.  It has been greatly appreciated.

Well Ladies, as I'm writing this our Membership Stats are 101.19% which I think that will put us very close to being an
All-State Auxiliary.  I don't want to congratulate us at this time, but just maybe at our March's    meeting, I will get the
official word and the we can celebrate.

As you know I was not at last month's meeting.  My Senior-Vice, Toni Trimarco held the meeting and I heard she did a
wonderful job.  Thank You Toni.

March is going to be a very busy month for us.  We will be having a Karaoke Contest with You 2 Kan      Karaoke
starting on March 12th.  The semi-finals will be on the 19th and the finals on the 26th.  There will be 3 categories, male,
female, and Group.  Prizes for 1st place, $100.00 2nd $50.00 and 3rd $25.00 in all categories.  There is a sign up
sheet behind the canteen and the entry fee is $20.00 per category.  We will also be holding a raffle all 3 nights for a
Patriotic Rocking Chair, Booze Basket and a Basket filled with Easter Goodies.  The drawing will be held the last night
of the contest and the winner does not need to be present to win.

On the 13th we will be holding Juanita's annual Cancer Survivor Party followed by a Variety Show that will start around
6:00 with You 2 Kan Karaoke.  There will dancing, food and other good fun.  I don't think that you want to miss either
event.

On then on the 21st, we will be having a Spring Fashion Show starting at 4:00pm.  Local vendors will be showing the
newest Spring Fashions and Accessories.  There will be door prizes, raffles and finger food.   Tickets will be $5.00 and
are also available at the canteen or see a LAV member.

The 27th we will be attending our District 12 Picnic at Post 8154, 3954 Paul S. Buchmann HWY,  Zephyrhills.  The
canteen phone number is (813) 782-7194.  Our ladies have been asked to supply the desserts.  We need enough
desserts to feed at least 60 members.  Please see me if you would like to donate a dessert so I can make sure we have
enough.

Our Fish Dinners are going very well.  The ladies in the kitchen are doing a wonderful job.  We all just work so well
together and have so much fun looking for Nemo.  I hate to see the fun end.  But we have decided that our last Fish
Dinner will be April 16th.  With it being started again sometime in Sept.

Since I was not at the meeting, I had to postpone our Initiations again until this month.  So, if nothing should happen,
hopefully we will have the initiation at March's meeting.

It's that time of year again, at April's meeting we will be having nominations and elections for officers for the year
2010-2011.  If you are interested in holding a office, please let some know so they can nominate you.

The membership drawing was won by Jean Zupko, a heart shaped box of candy with a little dog sitting in a Valentine
cup.

Our next meeting will be on March 10th, hope to see everyone there.

Amateur Karaoke Contest Information and Judging Criteria

To be eligible, each contestant/group performs during each of the
consecutive Friday nights in March, 2010; e.g. 12th, 19th, and 26th.
However, if some unforeseen reason, a contestant/group cannot
perform on one of the designated competition nights, they are
encouraged to continue as awards will be based on an accumulated
grand total over the entire contest.  On both March 12th and 19th each
contestant will sing two selections and only one selection on the night
of the finals on the 26th.  The contest will be broken down into three
categories of male, female and group.  Only amateurs will be allowed to
compete and the entire contest is to be based on fun, as well as talent.

The judges are to score each contestant or group on a range of 0 to
10, with 10 being the best.  The criteria for voting will be based on the
following areas:

  1.   Voice / Ability

  2.   Entertaining / Showmanship

  3.   Presentation / Technique

  4.   Crowd Appeal (Audience Interaction / Reaction)

  5.   Uniqueness / Originality

The judges are responsible for tallying all the final score cards following
the competition of
March 26th.

Monetary awards will be presented in each of the three categories of
male, female and group
as follows:
                                     1st Place -  $100.00
                                     2nd Place - $  50.00
                                     3rd Place - $  25.00

Additionally, multiple Honorable Mentions / Recognitions will also be
presented on March 26th to add to  the overall fun of the event.

The competition is open to the public and contestants are encouraged
to bring friends and supporters.  Time will be available each evening for
Open Mic sessions as well as dancing.

Entry admission is only $20 per category.  Contestants may sign up to
compete as an individual but also as part of a group.  Sign up sheet is
available in the Canteen.
